How to Price Freelance Work

A straightforward way to turn time, scope, and risk into a freelance price.

Freelance pricing gets easier when you stop asking for a magic number and start building a floor.

The floor comes from your income goal, business expenses, taxes, and realistic billable time. Once you know that, you can price actual work with less guesswork.

For small projects, the floor gives you a quick sanity check. For larger work, it becomes the baseline you build a quote around.

If the scope is unclear, the price needs a buffer. If the scope is clear, the buffer can be smaller but still present.

The point is to price work in a way that supports the business, not just the client request.
